37 Weeks...A waiting game...

Today marks the 37 week mark for us...which means Baby Jack is exactly 3 weeks out from his expected due date! I'm not exactly sure when that happened...I blinked and missed most of my pregnancy!

37 weeks is considered 'term', meaning that if he decided to make his appearance now then he would most likely have well developed lungs and have no need for a NICU stay. I can't say that I am 100% ready for him to come but I also can't say I would be upset if he decided to make his debut earlier than expected. He is already showing signs of being ready. At my appointment last week I was 3cms dilated and 80% effaced and he is still engaged in my pelvis. His fluid looked fine and his breathing motions were excellent. I have also had an increase in Braxton Hicks contractions. They can be painful but mostly just feel like someone is inflating a balloon to capacity in my tummy for 2 minutes at a time!

We've (or I've) decided that Tuesday (2/7) would be a pretty cool day to have him for several reasons. First and foremost, that is Shirley's birthday (Brad's mom) and it would be an incredible experience for him to choose that day as his birthday. It is also this month's full moon! I know it is supposedly an old wive's tale but being a teacher...I totally believe in the full moon theories whether science backs it up or not! To top it all off, I have appointment with Dr. Martin that day so he could check me and see that I had made even more progress and send me to L&D or he could jar something loose while checking me...we'll see! More than likely, Tuesday will pass without Jack making his way into the world but it's fun to think about what could happen.

Last Sunday (1/29), DeAnn, Kelley, and Mom threw us a baby shower. They worked so hard on the food and decor. Everything looked perfect! We were absolutely overwhelmed by the number of people that came and their generosity. We feel so blessed to have so many people in our lives that are just as excited about Jack as we are.

If Jack does decide to bake a little bit longer then I will be busy this weekend taking stuff to a 1400 family consignment sale. I know I'm crazy but I want all this stuff out of my house!! I won't be able to use any of Lilly's clothes so I might as well sell them and make some money. I will have to finish tagging, pricing, and pinning everything this week. Perhaps all this hard work will send me into labor! Once I drop everything off on Saturday, I will then go back on Monday for the preview sale...this is my first year so I am stoked to get first dibs on everything! My friend, Theresa, and I will probably make a night of it...leaving the boys to fend for themselves. I keep telling myself it is all going to be so worth it to have all that stuff cleaned out of my house!

I am adding a few pictures of Jack's nursery...this is before it was totally completed but it gives the general feel and idea of it...we are very proud of how it turned out! Enjoy!
