Well we have had a busy week. We celebrated Grandpa's 80th birthday in Warner Robins on the 7th. He was completely surprised....so I heard, we were a few minutes late. We got to spend a wonderful evening with family and friends. Everyone thought Lilly was the cutest thing ever...which she is!! She got to love on lots of relatives that she doesn't get to see very often. We had a long weekend but it was fantastic. Needless to say, this weekend will be spent doing much of nothing!
We spent Wednesday at Emory for Brad's appointment with oral surgeon. After tons of questions (including how much a previous procedure cost...what??) a thorough examination, and a CT scan, things turned out to be much less severe than we initially thought. The doctor's resident had us worried at first because he said the placement of the tumor was difficult because it had grown inside his gums instead outside. However, once the doctor came in he put us totally at ease. He told us we were in good shape because we caught it early, it is still localized and it has not reached any nerves. Brad will have to lose 4 to 5 teeth depending on how far over the tumor has grown once they get in there and little bit of jaw bone. It will be nothing nearly as extensive as we initially thought. He will be out of commission for only 2 weeks. Luckily, we were able to schedule it during my Spring Break so I won't have to miss any school. We have several options for replacement teeth down the road but he has to heal up completely before we can do anything. For right now, we are incredibly thankful that it was not cancerous, it will be easy to remove, and Brad's recovery time will be so short. Bottom line is...Lilly will have her daddy around and talking to her for a long time to come which is all we wanted! Thanks to everyone for your support and prayers...they have meant the world. We ask you to continue to keep us in your thoughts over the next several weeks. Enjoy some updated pictures below!
